In 2023, our Kāhui Ako aligned all inquiry mahi with four strategic goals:
Barrier-Free Access – ensuring great education opportunities and outcomes are within reach for every learner.
Learners and Their Whānau at the Centre – keeping learners and their whānau central to education.
Quality Teaching and Leadership – making a difference for learners and their whānau through effective teaching and leadership.
Future of Learning and Work – ensuring learning is relevant to the lives of young people today and throughout their lives.
There was also a strong focus on trauma-informed practice, with many inquiries connected to supporting learners experiencing trauma. Connections to Manaiakalani mahi continued for the in-school leads, and this work was woven into their inquiries. All work remained underpinned by student voice and culturally sustaining practice, keeping learners and whānau at the heart of every initiative.
